Hello all, By now I'm sure most of you have seen the wonderful film fitted to be called Star Wars, if you haven't....whats wrong?????
Well, anyway... I got a whole bunch of e-mail in reply to the "How I got the tickets"--So thank you all for that, but it was soo big to stick in here, so it shall be sent out right after this e-mail. (stupid aol woudln't let me copy and past it, it kept saying "please copy less than 73 characters").
So I got alot of news, rumors (whatever you want to call it) about Number 2 in the trilogy. I'll be sticking in my little comments here and there. You'll be able to see them easily cause (they'll look like this). There are also some spoilers in the news section, so if you haven't seen the movie, and you don't want to know anything, skip over the "news" section.
Our wonderful Co-prez, XDokyMenti (now XFAnakin) has had problems with her files, so she shall be submitting things into the letter next tme. :)

Episode II: The Clone Wars
A cloud of darkness looms over the
Galactic republic. Ankian Skywalker
has completed his training as Obi-Wan
Kenobi's Padawan Learner, and has
since been trained extensively, yet lacks the rank of Jedi Knight.
But on the edge of the galaxy, the
mastermind of the failed invasion of
Naboo has struck a deadly bargain with
a proud race of warriors. His only goal:
The destruction of the Jedi Order.
Sensing the rising evil, the Jedi Council
has dispatched a brigade of Knights, led
by General Kenobi and young Skywalker
to the peaceful planet of Alderran, under
a flag of peace for a mission of justice....
After completing years of Jedi training, Anakin and the young Queen, are planning to be married(what? No romance leading up to the moment like Han and Leia?). Palpatine, is now the Supreme Chancellor of the galaxy and is continuing his political march to the top.
Obviously, Anakin's crutch or Achilles heel, is his mother. A Jedi can ill afford to have such weekness and fear or turn to the dark side of the Force they will. Obi-Wan tells him to control his fear and prepare himself for what he may find when at Tatooine.
Shmi is killed, all that is left on Tatooine is C3-P0 now nearly complete. C3-P0 is not the accomplished storyteller we all know him as from later movies, but he adequately shares what his eyes have seen. It is very artistic, as the death of Shmi is never shown on screen. Apparently, she was killed during a cloning experiment for the newly established Empire, led by Darth Sidious. It was thought the midichlorians were stong in her, and thus would be the strongest in her clones as well.
The true reasons for the battle of Naboo in Episode I, was that they were protecting the technology that would lead us to the Clone Wars. The Mount Tantis (hey, thats where C'Bouth was! in the first Zahn trilogy!, plus they spelled it worng, it's Tantiss) original cloning facility was destroyed. Darth Maul returns as half a man, being able to move only with the aid of a hover platform at his midsection. (Let him go!!! he died, he was chopped into two big bits!!!) :) He is now even more force-strong and remains the apprentice of the Sith Lord Sidious. And thus begins the journey of Anakin to the dark side. In his anger, he frees the slaves of Tatooine, and fights a battle with desert skiffs against the Hutt clan. His Rodian friend is killed in the battle, and Sebulba dies as well. Many are saved, but his anger builds as he loses his friends. And still Jabba escapes, and the town of Mos Espa was destroyed. Anakin, C3-P0 and the rest of their clan head out into space. Meanwhile, Anakin's friend Kister has been cloned and will become the eventual Boba Fett, flying the appropriately named 'Slave I.' (hey no wonder they are kinda close in ESB! :) ) It was also named from the system how ships used to operate those days. Anakin also finds out his slave detonator is located in his right hand. (so Luke cuts it off of him later in life!)
In another sequence, Anakin's father is revealed, and the midichlorians are explained in greater detail. Millenia ago, people discover this mystical ability to manipulate objects and people. They call it the force and it gets a sort of religious following. Cut to many years later, and scientists are curious to determine why certain people can access this force and others cannot. They discover midichlorians and devise a blood test so they can begin training people at an early age (screening people via blood test). Suddenly, the Sith reappear (who are unaware of the existence of midichlorians) and begin systematically destroying the Jedi and Jedi potentials. Shortly before this the Jedi council (who mention in the Phantom Menace that the sith have not been seen for millenia) destroy all records of midichlorians and begin disseminating again the fact that the force is a mystical thing. Thus making it more difficult for the sith to carry out their Jedi extinction. This is why in ANH almost no Jedi left and absolutely no mention of 'midichlorians'.....
There is also the introduction of the Sith and the Sith Council. The Jedi council is confused by the return of the Sith, especially in large numbers because they originally thought there was only two at a time, and are afraid to mount a full scale attack on the infant rebellion of the Empire.
Later, in the Kvat Drive yards, the secret manufacturing base of the Empire/Trade Federation, Sidious and Palpatine are in a scene together to discuss how Palpatine can get funding for more warcraft. (Um, i have a problem wiht this part--it just jumped out at me. Now i don't want to give anything away... but how can they be talking to each other? Those of you who examined Sidious' chin during the movie will know what i mean, if you don't, E-mail me) Sidious says he will start a conflict and the Galactic Senate will be forced to approve the funding. Already they are manufacturing Tie Fighters and other new vehicles to combat the now aging Z-95 Headhunters of the Jedi under the instruction of Lieutenant Tarkin, although he is not seen in the film. Palpatine is reveled to be a clone. (So i guess that means that the Emporer was a clone in ROTJ too)
Obi-Wan and Amidala hit it off well during the intermission between the movies, and the strain is taking it's toll on the relationship of Anakin and Amidala. There is something of a love triangle developing in the storyline, especially on Alderaan when Anakin is away on Tatooine. Jealousy runs rampant. (Oh, now thats the best kind of triangle--oh dear, I've been watching too many soap operas! :)--Well now, thats kinda weird...cause look at their age difference. {Amidala and Obi} See bottom, The News that I collected from research)
Just before the big climax, Mace Windu and the Royal Guards dressed in blue, murder and betray the Jedi Council, killing them without warning. Few escape alive, and this is the start to what will be called the Clone Wars.
The climax of the film certainly is the Clone Wars. The Clone Wars really all started because the Sidious cloned senators and had the real ones assasinated so Palpatine could achieve the throne faster. Also, there is a completely new computer-generated Jedi in the film, (Again kinda hard to believe, cause Lucas said he really wouldn't {or can't, i forget} do a totally computer generated thing.--if your thinking about Jar Jar, he wasn't totally computer-they sometimes stuck a computer generated image on the costumed body of Ahmed Best) he is an alien that helps greatly in the wars. Clearly, the failure of the Battle Droid concept sets up the stage for enemies to begin using humans as weapons--cloned humans who can be massed produced to create an incredible fighting force.
Bail Organa fights with Obi Wan during the war against the Mandolorian Supercomandos, and Yoda is wounded in this epic battle encompassing all the remaining Jedi, and most of the rest are killed. Amidala, in a fulfillment of Anakin's dream, leads her people in a furocious battle against the cloned warriors, only to have her planet taken and herself taken captive. She can be seen holding the trinket Anakin gave to her many years ago. Yoda is wounded, and many others fall at the hands of the Clone Maul. The movie ends on the safe planet of Corellia, where a young Han Solo is seen tinkering with a swoop bike. (OOHHH, thatd be so cute to see!!!!) Obi-Wan and Anakin, both jealous for Amidala's love, must now join together to save her from the hands of the evil Empire.
Well, some of it does sound a little plausible. But I remember reading something on the Web about the new film (TMP), and in the movie there was no part in it of what I read on the Web. Besides, do you think Lucas would really use this?--He hasn't even finished writing the thing yet!--Okay, but it's fun to read, Hope you all liked it! :)

Now News from me...Casila.
This is a list compiled of all the information I have accessed from the Star Wars Insider (which I got last week) and from the Star Wars timeline, that I got on Saturday (5-29) from the book store. So here you go, a little summary of what's basically going on, or has gone on...
Ahhh, I'm in the mood here to write... or type, as the case may be, I have my SW soundtrack in the computer and I have in front of me that new SW dictionary that came out last year... so on with the news:

How I came up with all these ages was: I used when they were born compared to when TMP took place. TMP took place 32 years before ANH... so thats where I get the 32 from.
Obi-Wan: I have deducted from everything that he is more likely 27 (if he hasn't had his B-day yet) or 28 (if he has). In the dictionary it says that Obi-wan was born 60 years before A New Hope.--and TMP took place 32 years before ANH. So do a little math and you come up with 27 or 28 (depending on when his B-day is).
Anakin: all of my sources say that Anakin is 9 years old at the time of TMP. At first i came up with 11..don't ask me how i came up with that, i just did. So our little Darth was born 41 years before ANH... 41-32=9.
Padme/Amidala: Well, since she was not a known character till the movie, the dictionary doesn't tell how old she is--it doens't even tell about her at all!!--So from reading the SW Insider and from watching that special on E! the other day, they both (TV and Mag) come out and say that Amidala is 14 years old--you know, I thought she was much older, like at least 15 or 16..but 14! Imagine ruling a planet at that age, I'm 18 and can't even imagine ruling my city block!!!!
Okay, so now...if there's a real Ben/Padme/Anakin love triangle...and i think there is because of all the stuff i've heard... there's a 5 year difference between Anakin and Padme--not too bad
A 13 year diference between Padme and Obi-Wan--thats kinda old.
Well, do you know how old Leia and Han was when they first met? Leia was 18 (wow, she was my age and she was saving planets and stealing secret information!!!) and Han was 29. 11 year difference...but still, a 14 year old and 27... maybe when they get older it'll look a little better.--if it even happens!
Okay, done with the age thing, now that you know how old everyone is, here is the real info:
1) Lucas has already started the script for numero 2--he reportedly told E! that he wasn't planning on starting the script till September--to have some time off--but i guess not.
2) He also said he'd start filming Episode II in April, May 2000--a year from now!!!!
3) The casting for the older Anakin will start in September or October--so get ready, 20-something guys!!
4) Lucas--our beloved director wil reportedly direct Episodes II and III--this info was from the SW Insider--the best source of info on anything SW.
5) For all the Boba Fett fans--you might already know this--but Boba shall make an appearance in Episode II--so you only have until 2003 to wait and see him!!!!
6) Lucas--I heard him somewhere say this--I forget which TV channel, but the reporter said something like "Rumor is that the second movie will come out in 2004"--Lucas replied "I wish, but it's on schedule to come out in 2003"--I guess he said that cause he wanted more time to work on it, but SW fans get antsy when we don't have our fix of SW!!!! :)
7) But then I heard that Episode II will come out in three yeears... 2002--but also, I heard that on the local news, so until the SW insider confirms it, iIm waiting till the summer of 2003.
8) It has also been said the EP 2 will cost less than TPM... It will use under 100 million to make the movie while TMP cost a little over 110 million. The reason: Digital Pictures, it's gonna take the place of those annoying reel films... I have the whole article and if you wanna read it, then E-mail me and I'll send it to ya.
***Okay I'm sure some of you have heard all the rumors circulating of who will be the next, older, late teen, heart throb of a guy Darth Vader, or as we will know him Anakin Skywalker. Book Reviews
Okay, for this week we had the Zahn trilogy, and happy that I am, I got alot of responces, well more than I normally get... These books started the whole SW book series, it was the first in a whole new generation!--so here you go, of what your fellow SW's thought!

Zahn's trilogy was the first Star Wars books I ever read, and from what I've heard, the first books published. I've always loved the triolgy, with most other books not even coming close to being equals. It was very action-packed, like the Holy Trilogy (the original movies), yet it also shed some light on the character's personalities, so you get to know them better than what the movies showed you of them.
I haven't re-read the books yet, but then again, I've never re-read any of them so far. There are enough new ones coming out, I just don't have the time, but if I were to go back, they would be the first ones I'd read.

I'd like to give my review of the books mentioned in this newsletter. #5
I thought they were great. I really liked the part when Luke was captured by Talon Karrde and lost his power because the ysalamiri repelling it (the Force). I thought it was cool how he got along without it.
I thought that Grand Admiral Thrawn was a great character. He not only had a great military mind but a great intellectual mind too.
I could say more but you'd probably get bored with it so i'll end with this. I thought that overall it was a great tribute to the SW novels.

All 3 books are excellent . They form the core of all Star Wars books. Zahn exibits some of his best work ever. Before or since. All 3 books have everything a reader could want from a book : action, romance thrills and chills. . . and of course more action!! These books are classic lititure. They show the good old core characters (Luke, Leia, Han, Lando, and Chewie) and daring new characters (Mara Jade, Talon Karrde, and Garm Bel Iblis). Not to mention awsome new villians(Grand Admiral Thrawn and Joruus C'Baoth). These books are must read material.

These books were magnificant. Heir to the Empire, helped establish what was going on after the battle of Endor. Dark Force Rising really gave that empire strikes back feeling and put some edge to the storyline. The Last Command was really the best. It showed thrawn at the verge of total domination, then suddenly everything came crashing down. This trilogy was truly worthy of the title, "Star Wars".

Well, by the time I got to The Last Command (third book), I really loved these books. Heir to the Empire was the first SW Novel I read...ever. (it was a while ago) When I first read it, I kinda didn't like it, maybe cause I didn't think it sounded like the charcaters, but when I got into it, I thought it really did sound like them. So if you haven't read a SW novel yet... read these first. I think that they are the best SW novels ever written--along with his new "Hand of Thrawn" books.--now those I really liked, but thats another Book review! :)
